Decide whether this major detour fits your journey
Daocheng and Yading require a deliberate choice of time and route. They should not be inserted into a short itinerary without accounting for transfers, walking plans and current access.
Why include this stop?
Include Daocheng and Yading when it serves the pace and experiences of the whole route. The best decision is based on available days, confirmed access and what you want to spend time doing.
- Understand its role between overnight stops
- Choose one or two priorities
- Keep road time and rest realistic
